27th. October 2007. GERARD KENNY at Down House Hotel, near Harlow, Essex.

Yet another fantastic gathering of the GK Club, this time to celebrate Gerard's sixtieth birthday, at the very grand Down House Hotel, near Harlow in Essex.
Gerard kicked off with the familiar, "All I need is love" from Chicago, and this was followed by Michele Le Grand's "The music never ends" Then came a touch of Irish! with "A lassie in Kilarny" written by him and his dad.
"Don't send my flowers" from Sunset Boulevard was followed by "Love" a Drey Shepperd song.
Next came a song that Gerard says tellls the story of his life, "I beleive I can fly"
A bluesy "My baby grand" a Billy Joel song, then the Elton John song "I'm still standing"
To finish off the first half, quite literally! was The Turning Tinas, singing "Simply the best" ! Now in all honesty??? I think this was Rosie Morton, Pat Jenkins and Rosemary Treasure, singing to Tina's song in honour and dedicated to Gerard.

The second act started after the raffle with one of Gerard's hits, "Nickles and dimes" and then a strange song. Gerard usually sings positive love songs, and this great song, "Guess who I saw today" came as a surprise with a sting in the tail!
Two more of of Gerard's own songs, "Do I love you" written by Cole Porter and then his self penned song "Tom Thumb" usually an instramental but now with lyrics added by Rosie Morton, presumably called, "What will be wil be".
A return to Michelle Le Grand for "What are you doing the rest of your life" and then the song Gerard wrote with Barry Mason "The other woman, the other man"
A return to a ragtime theme with "Ain't she sweet" then the flags were waved and whistles blown and sirens whailed! for "New York New York"
Coming back down to earth, Gerard slipped sweetly into Billy Joel's, "Just the way you are" then another slowy written by Gerard, "Made it through the rain"
Next came Gerard's tribute to his fans "Thats what friends are for" And for an encore Gerard played "Fantasy"
So now we have to wait until the next time for our next fix of the Great man, Gerard Kenny.
